Prabowo Aims to Reject Fraudulent Indonesia Election Results

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Gerindra Party Chairman Prabowo Subianto in the event dubbed as the “national symposium on the 2019 electoral fraud” declared that he will reject the vote recapitulation result and calls for people to do the same.

“I am determined to reject the foul general elections result,” said Prabowo at the event held in Grand Sahid Hotel in Central Jakarta on Tuesday.

In his speech, Prabowo says that he has felt and holds pieces of evidence on what he calls as an act of “democratic rape” felt by him and his supporters. He also boldly claims to have won the people’s mandate.

“If we back down, it means we gave up against injustice. That means we have betrayed the nation together with its people and our founding fathers” he said.

Prabowo also said that by the end of the event, he intends to gather legal experts at his home in Kertanegara and mold his final will.

Meanwhile, in response to the numerous police reports filed against fellow opposition figures, Prabowo said; “These people, these national figures have not conducted treason.”

Upon naming several individuals, he also defends the National Mandate Party (PAN) senior politician and party founder Amien Rais. “Amien Rais is not committing treason. We are all defending Indonesia as a nation,” he said.

He voiced his trust in the General Elections Commission (KPU) but immediately contradicted it by declaring to reject the outcome of the final vote recapitulation that he deems is infested with deceitfulness.
