TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named the Tulungagung Regency DPRD Speaker Supriyono as a suspect in a bribery case. Supriyono is accused of accepting bribes in relation with the discussion, ratification, and implementation of the regency's Regional Budget (APBD) and Amended Budget for the 2015-2018 fiscal year.
Supriyono allegedly received Rp4.88 billion from Tulungagung Regent Syahri Mulyo to "ensure the smoothness" of the budget discussion.
"The money allegedly came from Syahri Mulyo and his friends—in return for ratifying the regional budgets. In a previous case, Syahri was proven to have accepted bribes from a number of entrepreneurs in Tulungagung," KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah yesterday.

Supriyono's involvement was revealed during the investigation of Regent Syahri Mulyo's bribery case. Syahri was arrested during a sting operation in June 2018. He has been convicted guilty of accepting bribes from businessmen related to infrastructure development projects in Tulungagung. Syahri was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
In the trial, it was revealed that Syahri gave money to Supriyono as the cost of disbursing the provincial aid budget, and as "dowry" to secure financing from the general allocation funds, special allocation funds, and provincial assistance during the 2014-2018 period.
Febri said that that KPK investigators are now working on the allegations that Supriyono might have accepted bribes from other people.
