Jokowi Responds to Death Threat, Calls All to Remain Calm

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo has responded to the death threat made against him by a citizen. Jokowi called all parties to refrain themselves from being provoked in relation to the threat.
"This is the fasting month. We are all fasting, so be patient," said the President in an official statement after inaugurating Pandaan-Malang toll in Singosari tollgate, Malang, East Java on Monday, May 13, 2019.
He further appealed to the public to remain calm and not easily provoked by provocative issue. As for the legal proceeding toward the threat suspect, he trusted the police to take actions based on the prevailing law.
"Let the police handle the legal process," the President noted.
The threat to Jokowi was delivered by a citizen during a rally in front of the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) office in Central Jakarta on Friday, May 10, 2019. The threat was recorded in a video and went viral on social media.
The police arrested a 25-year-old man identified as HS for allegedly posing a threat to the President. HS was then named a treason suspect.
Presently, the Jakarta Metro Police general criminal investigation unit is looking for the video uploader who was suspected to be a woman from Sukabumi, West Java.
