TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesia Corruption Watch (ICW) has pushed for President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to immediately form a special committee tasked to select candidates that will lead the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) for the 2019-2024 term.
The KPK that is currently led by Agus Rahardjo will soon end in December.
“We urge for the formation of the committee,” said ICW researcher Kurnia Ramadhana in Jakarta on Sunday.

Kurnia said that the previous special committee taking the role was only formed in May, however, this year ICW is pessimistic that the special selection committee (pansus) could be formed soon since the president is expected to focus on the 2019 general elections vote recapitulation.
According to the ICW researcher, if the team is formed hastily it would create bad effects for anyone that gets elected into the KPK in the future. “If the selection process is made within a small timeframe, then there would be levels within the selection that will be left out, such as the session where we here the public opinion,” said Kurnia.
