TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Vice presidential candidate Sandiaga Uno deeply regrets that someone would go as far to issue a death threat against President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo, let alone that the threat involves beheading.
“I don’t really understand the context but [this case must be solved] within the legal corridor, everything must be conducted that way,” said Sandiaga in Jakarta on Sunday, May 12.
He called for people to express their opinions with etiquette and in good manners, especially during the Islamic holy Ramadan month. Sandiaga also called for the general elections results to be escorted by the Indonesian people within a corridor that is “fair and dignified.”
“We must express words that are peaceful in this holy month,” the former Jakarta Deputy Governor reminded.

As previously reported, the Metro Jaya Police department arrested a suspect with the initials of “HS” for chanting threats to kill the president while the suspect participated in a protest in front of the Elections Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) headquarters in Central Jakarta on Friday, May 10.
In a video that went viral, HS proudly announced that he came from the Poso region and “is prepared to behead President Jokowi in the name of Allah.”
Police maintain that the suspect will be charged with Article 104 of the Criminal Code (KUHP) on enticing a coup and Article 27 of Law No.19/2016 on Electronic Information and Transactions (ITE).
