TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said the government will have a discussion today about dispatching hajj and umrah pilgrims via the Kertajati Airport in West Java.

The discussion will be held with Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan, Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin, and West Java deputy governor Uu Ruzhanul Ulum.

"We decided to embark all pilgrims from West Java via Kertajati, Budi said in Jakarta, Friday, May 10.

The minister said the policy will reduce the traffic at Soekarno Hatta Airport. He believes that from Kertajati, 20 groups of hajj pilgrims—or around 4,000 people, can embark this year.

Previously, the director of PT West Java International Airport, Muhamad Singgih, said that umra flight service from Kertajati Airport is targeted to start in September 2019.
