TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fuel consumption during the 2019 homecoming period is predicted to increase by 11 percent. In order to anticipate the increase, state-owned oil and gas company PT Pertamina will increase the number of fuel supply.
According to Receiving Storage and Distribution Supervisor of PT Pertamina Terminal BBM in Malang Rachmatullah Adicahyo Nugraha, the state-owned enterprise, had planned to add fuel supplies from the usual 2,164 kiloliters to 2,758 kiloliters every two days, starting from D-2 before Eid Al-Fitr. The policy will be applied until one week after Eid Al-Fitr, which is predicted to occur on June 5, 2019.
"Also on D+6 until D+8 after Eid Al-Fitr when the homecoming return trip are increasing and people want to go on tour," Rachmatullah said on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
He explained that the 11 percent increase is predicted to occur on gasoline fuel, namely Pertamax, Pertalite, and Premium. The consumption rate of these three types of fuel is predicted to increase staring from D-10 before until D+10 after Eid Al-Fitr from 1,547 kiloliters to 1,717 kiloliters per day.
The increase is predicted based on the number of private-owned vehicles mostly dominating homecoming traffic. These private vehicles often use gasoline fuel.
Meanwhile, the consumption rate of gasoil fuels (Pertamina Dex, Dexlite, and Solar) is predicted to decrease by 17 percent from the average 456 kiloliters to 390 kiloliters per day.
