10 Asian Countries with Shortest Fasting Hours this Ramadan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - According to a survey done by Muslimpro in 180 countries, Indonesia ranks second in the list of Asian countries with the shortest fasting hours during this year's holy Ramadan month.

Muslims are obliged to fast during the entire month of Ramadan. Fasting hours last from dawn up to sunset at the time the evening prayers of Maghrib are conducted.

Back to the survey, Indonesians will fast for 13 hours and 23 minutes in the first day and 13 hours and 21 minutes at the last day of Ramadan, just behind Timor Leste that will fast for 13 hours and 9 minutes in the first day and end with a fasting hour of 13 hours and 4 minutes.

The Maldives ranks third with its first day of fasting lasting 13 hours and 39 minutes while the last day will see fasting hours of 13 minutes and 46 minutes.

Outside of Asia, New Zealand Muslims will undergo the shortest fasting hours of 11 hours and 10 minutes while the longest fasting hours worldwide goes to Greenland with 21 hours and 42 minutes.

Here are 10 Asian countries with the shortest fasting hours in Ramadan 2019:

Timor Leste: (1st day) 13 hours and 9 minutes | (last day) 13 hours 4 minutes

Indonesia: 13 hours and 23 minutes | 13 hours and 21 minutes

Maldives: 13 hours and 39 minutes | 13 hours and 46 minutes

Singapore: 13 hours and 41 minutes | 13 hours and 46 minutes

Malaysia: 13 hours and 46 minutes | 13 hours and 52 minutes

Sri Lanka: 13 hours and 46 minutes | 13 hours and 56 minutes

Brunei Darussalam: 13 hours and 50 minutes | 13 hours and 58 minutes

Cambodia: 14 hours | 14 hours and 14 minutes

Philippines: 14 hours and 8 minutes | 14 hours and 26 minutes

Thailand: 14 hours and 10 minutes | 14 hours and 37 minutes
