TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Chairman Agus Rahardjo stated that members of the commission are constantly monitoring the actions of state-owned enterprise (SOE) Officials for suspected corruption.
He said that his statement should be perceived as a serious warning and is not meant to spread fear among SOEs currently under KPK's close supervision.
"We announce this not just to spread fear, actually at this very day the KPK is monitoring several state-owned enterprises," said Agus Rahardjo in front of SOE Minister Rini Soemarno in a seminar at KPK office on Thursday, May 9, 2019.
Agus argued that a number of state-owned enterprise employees have yet to improve their culture and mindset when running an enterprise with an asset worth IDR 8,000 trillion with a total profit running in IDR 2,000 trillion, which is much larger compared to the State Budget (APBN).
"We truly apologize [Minister Rini], we are forced to act against several SOEs [implicated in corruption]. Take an example of those conducting fictitious contracts, that still exists," said Agus.
KPK constantly promotes for a major fix in the SOE monitoring system and other attempts that would suppress the level of corruption among SOE.
