MRT Jakarta to Implement Normal Tariff on May 13

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT Mass Rapid Transit or MRT Jakarta management has announced that the MRT normal tariff will be applied on Monday, May 13.

“We have advertised it via our website. In the near time ahead, we will massively announce it through printed and electronic media,” said the corporate secretary, Muhammad Kamaluddin when met in Wisma Nusantara, Jakarta, Wednesday, May 8.

Not only in printed and electronic media but the announcement related to the regular fare will also be spread around the station areas, Kamaluddin added. Officers will be tasked to deliver the information and explain benefits for the passengers using the subway.

According to a survey run by PT MRT, the standard tariff will possibly affect around 30 percent of 82,000 passengers per day.

Therefore, his side is preparing several strategies such as providing on-time transportation service, promotions and shopping discounts in retailers in the train station areas, as well as enhancing the integration system with Transjakarta to ease the public changes transportation mode.

Additionally, the MRT upgraded its service by operating the service starting from 05:00 until 24:00, fastening the train headway to five minutes from previously ten minutes and adding the train set from eight to 14 cars.

The normal rate of MRT Jakarta is set Rp3,000 per person that will increase by Rp1,000 as the train passes one station. The highest tariff is Rp14,000 from and to Lebak Bulus Station - Bundaran HI (Hotel Indonesia roundabout).
