TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Eggi Sudjana's lawyer Pitra Romadoni said his client will likely come to the Jakarta Police station today, May 3. Eggi has been summoned by the Criminal Division to be questioned about his "people power" statement.
"God willing, he will attend," Pitra said.
Jakarta Metro Police PR chief Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono said Eggi will be questioned at 14:00 today. However, Argo said, the police had not received any confirmation that the PAN politician will come to the station.
Eggi had already been questioned on 26 April. During the 13 hours of interrogation, the police asked 116 questions.
Eggi will be questioned on behalf of a police report by Supriyatno, a volunteer of the Jokowi-Ma'ruf Center (Pro Jomac), filed on April 19, charging Eggi of committing incitement.
Eggi was also reported to the police by a PDIP politician, who is running for a legislative seat, Dewi Ambarawati a.k.a. Dewi Tanjung. Dewi reported Eggi's call for "people power" after the April 17 election, which is recorded on video.
Dewi said that Eggi's remark was a threat to national security and stability. "As a citizen, I feel disturbed by his statement," Dewi said on April 24.
Eggi Sudjana had said that his "people power" remark was not related to treason nor to encourage a movement against the government. He instead claimed that it is something that will happen as a consequence for the alleged "cheating" during the election, which he said had not been responded by the organizer.
