TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT. Transportasi Jakarta (Transjakarta) started the trial run of its electric buses on Monday, April 29. The buses will be used as transportation for people of the capital city.
Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan joined the trial and rode on one of the electric buses from the City Hall to the Hotel Indonesia Roundabout, and back.
"Today the electric bus will start operating on Jakarta roads," he said yesterday.
Anies said three electric buses that were tested cannot take on public passengers yet, as Transjakarta is still taking care of the required administrative and licensing documents to operate the bus.
Transjakarta CEO Agung Wicaksana said that the company has obtained the vehicle test certificates for three electric buses, which were made by BYD Company Ltd and Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB).
