Traffic Engineering around State Palace, GBK during Labor Day

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Traffic Police Directorate will impose traffic engineering during the Labor Day or May Day on Wednesday, May 1, around the area of State Palace on Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara and Gelora Bung Karno (GBK), Central Jakarta.
The police chief of traffic operational unit Comr. Jamal said the traffic diversion and closure will be carried out flexibly, “depending on the situation and needs,” said Jamal via a short message on Monday, April 30.
Police estimated some 30,000 to 40,000 people will join in the commemoration event of Labor Day across the capital city. Jakarta Police has at least received 14 notice letters from a number of workers’ union.
Based on data informed by Jamal, nine points around State Palace will be engineered:
- Vehicles from Jalan M.H. Thamrin heading to Jalan Medan Merdeka Barat will be diverted to Jalan Kebon Sirih.
- Vehicles from Jalan Abdul Muis heading to Jalan Budi Kemuliaan will be directed to Jalan Fachrudin.
- Vehicles from Jalan Abdul Muis heading to Jalan Museum will be directed to Jalan Tanah Abang I.
- Vehicles from Jalan Suryopranoto heading to Jalan Majapahit will be diverted to Jalan Ir H. Juanda.
- Vehicles from Lapangan Banteng Barat (Istiqlal Mosque) heading to Harmoni will be diverted to Tugu Adipura towards Pasar Baru to take a U-Turn.
- Vehicles from Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur heading to Jalan Medan Merdeka Utara will be diverted to Jalan Perwira.
- Vehicles from Jalan M.I. Ridwan Rais heading to Jalan Medan Merdeka Selatan will be directed to Jalan Medan Merdeka Timur.
Here are traffic engineerings around the complex of GBK, particularly for the commemoration event of Labor Day in Istora Senayan, Central Jakarta:
- Vehicles from Jalan Gatot Subroto heading to Jalan Gerbang Pemuda will be directed to Slipi.
- Vehicles from Slipi will be directed to Semanggi, and are prohibited to pass Ladokgi overpass to Jalan Gerbang Pemuda.
- Vehicles from Bundaran Senayan heading to Jalan Pintu Satu Senayan will be directed to Jalan Jenderal Sudirman towards Semanggi.
- Vehicles from Jalan Moestopo heading to Jalan Asia Afrika will be diverted to Jalan Hang Tuah Raya.
- Vehicles from Jalan Patal Senayan 1 heading to Jalan Asia Afrika will be diverted to Jalan Tentara Pelajar.
- Vehicles from Gedung Manggala Wanabakti heading to Jalan Lapangan Tembak will be directed to Jalan Tentara Pelajar.
Jakarta Metro Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Argo Yuwono mentioned 1,500 joint personnel and 25,000 personnel will be deployed to secure the Labor Day in Istora Senayan and State Palace respectively.
