Police Hold 2-weeks of Traffic Patrol to Curb Accidents

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Traffic Police will be holding the 2019 Great Safety Operation over the next 14 days. The special patrol is aimed at curbing down the high rate of traffic accident in the capital.
"The main goal is to increase people's discipline in road traffic. We also seek to minimize the number of violations and cut down the rate of accidents, Metro Jaya Police chief Insp. Gen. Gatot Edi said on Monday, April 29.

The operation, he added, also aims to educate the public about traffic and road safety, and encourage the people to obey the laws even when the police are not around.
The Jakarta Police`s Traffic Division's chief Sr. Comr. Yusuf said that 2,771 officers will be on duty during the operation.
