PSI Predicted to Secure Seats at Jakarta Legislative Council

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of the Indonesian Solidarity Party's (PSI) Jakarta chapter, Michael Victor Sianipar, predicted that his party could garner 8 percent of the total vote (450,000-500,000 votes) in Jakarta’s 2019 legislative elections. He based his predictions on the results of multiple pollsters' surveys.
Michael, despite being upbeat that PSI could grab significant number of seats at DPRD Jakarta, said he was still awaiting the final vote tally from the General Elections Commission (KPU).

“Realistically it is between 8 to 10 seats,” said Michael to Tempo today.
Michael said most of the votes originated from West Jakarta, followed by North Jakarta, South Jakarta, Central Jakarta and West Jakarta, respectively.
“Half of them are below 30-year-old, consisting of five people,” said Michael, who balked at revealing the identities of PSI cadres he thought would become Jakarta councilors.
Michael, however, said that PSI cadre Idris Ahmad—once a staffer of former Jakarta governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama—was one of them.
