Flood Hit 17 Areas in South, East Jakarta: BPBD

26 April 2019 11:37 WIB

TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) recorded floods hit 17 areas throughout the capital city following the alert level 1 in Bogor’s Katulampa Dam and in Depok watergate. The water level of both reached 220 centimeters and 360 centimeters respectively.

Based on data collected by the agency from Jakarta disaster data and information in a release today, April 26, water inundated several sub-districts of South Jakarta, namely Lenteng Agung, Srengseng Sawah, Pengadegan, Rawajati, and East Pejaten with the height around 20 to 170 centimeters.

Meanwhile, areas in East Jakarta include Cawang, Balekambang, Kampung Melayu, and Bidara Cina were also submerged with the height of water between 20 to 100 centimeters.

The agency observed that some residents in Pengadegan had fled to Pengadegan low-cost apartment or rumah susun.

Currently, a joint team of BPBD, Social Agency’s Emergency Response Unit (Tagana), sub-district officials, Public Orders Agency (Satpol PP), the Early Awareness Society Forum (FKDM), Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), and Police is collecting update data and preparing emergency needs.

Additionally, officers carried out the monitoring and coordination with officials in affected areas, as well as spreading the early warning to the public living adjacent to Ciliwung River through SMS blast when the alert status of Katulampa Dam and Depok watergate increases to Alert level 1.

The agency also collaborated with Jakarta working units (SKPD) such as Water Resource Agency to drain the water using 133 units of the mobile pump and 465 units of the stationer pump spread across 164 locations.

The officers called on the public to anticipate potential floods and quickly report a disaster via Jakarta administration official line and Jakarta BPBD or Jakarta Siaga Call Center 112 for immediate response.

Earlier on Tuesday, Jakarta BPBD announced Katulampa Dam reached Alert level 2 due to heavy pouring rain in Bogor and its vicinity area.
