TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Commissioner of the Election Supervisory Agency (Bawaslu) Rahmat Bagja reminded that convincing and undisputed evidence must be presented before alleging the Indonesia election of being marred by massive, structured, and systematic elections fraud.
Regarding the data input mistake by a General Elections Commission (KPU) member, it cannot be categorized as cheating.
“We should consider the process and what evidence is presented? It involves many components before accusing something like an administrative violation that is structured, systematic, and massive,” said Rahmat Bagja at the agency’s headquarters.
However, he strongly warned the KPU to be extra cautious upon inputting their data before publishing it publically onto its vote counting information system website (SITUNG).
“May I remind you that KPU’s SITUNG is experiencing trouble lately, we have warned the KPU to be careful as it is a sensitive matter,” said Rahmat.
As of the accusations calling the Indonesia election corrupt, he said it was mainly due to logistical errors that cannot be categorized as systematic fraudulent behavior. However, he regretted that such problems were not able to be anticipated by the KPU.
Prior to releasing his statement, protestors – mainly Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno supporters, gathered in front of the Bawaslu headquarters. They demanded the agency to handle the systematic electoral fraud.
