TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The panel of judges of Jakarta Corruption Court sentenced the former secretary-general of Golkar Party, Idrus Marham, three years imprisonment and a fine of Rp150 million or a subsidiary jail-term of two months for the PLTU Riau bribery case.

The judge found Idrus guilty of receiving a bribe from the House of Representative Energy Commission deputy Eni Maulani Saragih who obtained Rp4.75 billion bribe from the shareholder of PT Blackgold Natural Resources Ltd Johannes Budisutrisno Kotjo to get the Riau PLTU project.
The verdict on Idrus was lighter than demands issued by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors, which was five years behind bars and a fine of Rp300 million for a subsidiary jail-term of six months. Upon the verdict, the anti-graft body would first examine the matter.
