TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Transportation Ministry secretary-general Djoko Sasono responded issues on the increasing airfare. Djoko said the meeting between his ministry and flight operators will be held as it is necessary to set a new policy on flight tickets.
“The maximum airfare has been formulated, and it has not been changed since 2016. So a discussion [is needed] to give recommendation on what we have to do for the people,” said Djoko in Mercure Hotel, Jakarta, Tuesday, April 23.
Djoko explained the meeting has been scheduled starting yesterday and would be held this week. However, he stopped short of detailing the exact time.
Djoko hoped flight operators would understand the current condition dealt with the public after the meeting.
To date, he went on to say, the ministry has yet targeted the deadline to issue a new regulation. However, Djoko assured that the government continued to ensure safety flights in Indonesia.
Earlier on Monday, April 23, Transportation Minister Budi Karya Sumadi said he prepared several strategies to lower the flight tariffs nearing the Eid al-Fitr holiday. This would be discussed with each airline in the next one to two days.
