2019 General Elections, PSI Intends to Oppose Anies Baswedan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Solidarity Party (PSI) Jakarta regional board chairman Michael Victor Sianipar said that his Party finished fourth in the Jakarta legislative elections based on quick count polls, despite losing a ticket to enter the House of Representatives (DPR RI) in Senayan.
“This is an outstanding achievement. We truly thank Jakartans that placed their trust in us and gave us the opportunity to test and showcase our character,” said Michael in a written statement on Thursday, April 18.

According to quick count polls from CSIS-Cyrus Network, PSI garnered 7.98 percent votes, behind Indonesia Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) with 23.05 percent, Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) with 16.4 percent, and Gerindra Party 14.87 percent.
The PSI regional chairman promised that PSI will closely guard the programs of Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan since the party deems that the city has much work to do to elevate its residents and to build fair and progressive infrastructure.
“We will not hesitate on throwing criticism but we will also offer solutions and be willing to sit together as a constructive opposition,” said Michael who wished no more political disruption following the general election.
