TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The General Election Commission (KPU) head Arief Budiman appealed to all parties to acknowledge results of quick counts issued by pollsters as a reference and information. The official result, Arief underlined, will be based on the real count conducted by his agency.
“[Please] stick to the result that will be released by the KPU later,” said Arief at Suropati Park, Central Jakarta, on Wednesday, April 17.
Regardless of the outcome, Arief added, the agency called on the public to believe in the KPU. If there is sufficient evidence showing a foul play, people can file a report. “The Constitution Court is ready to resolve the dispute,” he noted.
Arief underlined participants in the Indonesia elections 2019 are barred from dealing with a dispute by committing acts against the law, such as mobilize people for people power. “Don’t resolve it by other ways,” he said.
The KPU is establishing the general elections transparently that made possible by the involvement of many independent election watchdogs.
“Not only in Jakarta that is publicly seen but also in other regions, islands outside Java,” he remarked.
