TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A day before the voting day on April 17, the Jokowi - Ma'ruf campaign team is increasingly optimistic of winning the 2019 presidential election. The team secretary, Hasto Kristiyanto, said his side predicted the incumbent would gain more than 58.5 percent of votes.
The figure, Hasto explained, is possible to reach given the latest electability of the candidate number 01 released by credible pollsters.
“Their survey results, of course, have yet counted the final election debate and the united white concert (campaign rally) in GBK, so we believe votes for Jokowi - Ma'ruf will grow over 58.5 percent,” said Hasto in the PDIP Party’s executive board (DPP) office, Jakarta, on Tuesday, April 16.
Five days prior to the voting day, a total of four pollsters announced their final survey on the electability of the two presidential-vice presidential candidates.
The surveys conducted by LSI Denny JA, SMRC, Indopolling Network, and Alvara Research Center revealed the incumbent candidate still bested the electoral rival.
Indopolling Network survey, for example, showed the electability rate of Joko Widodo- Ma'ruf Amin reached 57.4 percent, while Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno at 32.5 percent. The rest 10.1 percent was indecisive voters.
“The electability gap is more than 20 percent, and this is quite significant,” said Indopolling Network executive director Wempy Hadir on Friday, April 12.
