Prabowo Coalition Insist on Police, TNI Neutrality

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Political party secretary generals for the Prabowo Subianto – Sandiaga Uno coalition publically demanded the neutrality promised by Indonesian Armed Force (TNI) Commander and Indonesian National Police (Polri) Chief in facing the 2019 general elections.
“This is a test for the police and military institutions upon upholding democracy, civilian supremacy, and standing on all groups, political parties, and presidential candidates,” said Ahmad Muzani, Gerindra Party secretary's General on Monday.

Other members attending the press conference were Democrat Party secretary-general Hinca Pandjaitan, National Mandate Party secretary-general Eddy Soeparno, and Prosperous Justice Party secretary Mustafa Kamal.
The issue of TNI-Polri neutrality was also brought up by Coordinating Minister of Political, Law, and Security Affairs Wiranto in a national coordination meeting on Monday.
Police Chief General Tito Karnavian once issued a telegram under the code K/DEN-04/III/2019/DIVPROPAM on March 20, 2019, meant for every Indonesian police chiefs to strictly be politically neutral in the 2019 general elections.
