Hundreds of Indonesia Election Ballot Boxes Damaged in Flood

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Bogor District elections committee is collecting data on the damaged Indonesia Election logistics caused by a flood on Sunday, April 14. So far, there are 682 damaged voting ballot boxes which left 768 undamaged.
“Other than voting ballots, there might be other damages but will be further inventoried and reported to the General Elections Commission (KPU),” said Deden Rukmana, head of the region’s logistics division on Monday.

He recalled that there were no indications showing that the ballot papers sustained damages following the flooding. Deden said that the team is considering to move the location of the election’s official warehouse following the incident.
The heavy rain showering over Ciseeng, Bogor District on Sunday, April 14, generated a flood that drowned the ballot boxes kept at the warehouse.
“We still have spares, and the usable ones left from the 2018 regional elections. We will distribute replacement ballot boxes that were damaged,” said Bogor District’s KPU Commissioner Herry Setiawan.
