Police Promise Cash Reward for Those Who Report on Money Politics

15 April 2019 10:21 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - West Sumatra’s Solok City Police Chief Grand Adj. Commissioner Dony Setiawan promised to reward people with an Rp1 million prize money for those who report on the presence of money politics in the 2019 general elections.

“We held a discussion and compared notes on what constitutes as money politics with legislative candidates and political party chairman,” said Solok City Police Chief AKBP Dony Setiawan in Solok on Sunday night.

According to him, police will reward an Rp1 million prize money for those who are courageous enough to report on money politics taking place during Election Day on April 17, complete with evidence.

“How about the legislative candidates that are on a tight budget? They would certainly lose [if rivals use bribe money]. This is why money politics must be fought against for the sake of fair democracy,” he maintained.

Solok City Police have handled three cases of electoral violations during the 2019 general elections campaign but is positive that the election will run smoothly without any problems.
