TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said that lowering electricity tariff was not an easy thing to do. He made the statement in response to Prabowo Subianto's campaign promise.
Luhut said lowering electricity rates required a clear calculation.
The minister also said that electricity tariffs must take into account production costs and compare them with the public's economic ability.
"It's not that simple. You cannot just lower power prices at will," Luhut said in Jakarta, Monday, April 8.

During his campaign in Manado last month, Prabowo Subianto promised that he would lower the costs of electricity and expensive goods within 100 days of ruling if elected as president.
Prabowo claimed to have compiled inputs from experts who guaranteed that those promises could be fulfilled in a short time.
