TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - PT LRT Jakarta continues reviewing its operation while waiting for the certificate and operation permit, including on the ticketing and payment system following the trouble in MRT Jakarta’s ticket during its initial operations.

"We continue to test it on repeat," said LRT Jakarta project director Iwan Takwin, as quoted from Koran Tempo on Friday, April 5.

Iwan said LRT Jakarta is waiting for the operational certificate from the Transportation Ministry before granted with the operational permit from Jakarta Administration to be able to operate the train with 5.8-kilometer route of Kelapa Gading-Velodrom.

He added that the repetitive testing on the ticketing system is done to anticipate and avoid troubles during the commercial operation. “We wanted to know if the error occurred when tapping [the ticket] in high frequency,” he said.

The management, Iwan went on, will not let LRT Jakarta to face similar problem experienced in MRT ticketing system.

The commercial operation of MRT Jakarta’s first phase with the route Lebak Bulus-Bundaran HI, was started on Monday, April 1. However, it was not run well as the passenger gate or the ticketing system could not accept some of the electronic money cards and even affected other payment means issued by MRT.

As the result, passengers were piling up during rush hours which made MRT Jakarta opened the passenger gate and inactivate the payment system at the stations.
