TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - The Riau Provincial Narcotics Agency (BNN) foiled the smuggling of drugs from Malaysia in large numbers on Thursday, April 4.
Smugglers tried to bring the drugs to Indonesia via Pekanbaru, Riau. The authorities confiscated the drugs and arrested the criminals.
Three smugglers hid 24 kilos of methamphetamine—also known for its street name, shabu—and 13,000 of ecstasy pills inside vegetable baskets.
"The drug came here from Malaysia through Dumai, Bengkalis, to Pekanbaru," BNN Riau chief Brigadier General Untung Subagyo, yesterday.
The three smugglers are residents of Pekanbaru: RS, A, and AR.
"Their mode of operation is very sophisticated," he said.
