TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police's anti-terrorism Special Detachment 88 (Densus 88) arrested a suspected terrorist identified as A, who was a leader of terror group Jamaah Ansharut Daulah (JAD) on late Wednesday, April 3, 2019, in Karawang, West Java.
"Yes, we have arrested suspected terrorist identified as A," said National Police spokesman Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo in his office, South Jakarta on Thursday, April 4, 2019.
The suspect was the alleged mastermind behind a number of JAD terrorist network in Indonesia. "The most crucial case is the attempt to hunt down the network leader kown as A," Dedi added.
A, who had worked as kebab seller, was detained on Jalan Wirasaba, East Karawang, West Java. The arrest was a result of the case development of suspected terrorist WP also known as Syahid in Bandung, West Java. WP planned to hijack a car loaded with money for ATM machine before committing terror in East Java.
A was allegedly involved in several terror acts. "He coordinated several terror attempts," Dedi said.
The suspected leader of JAD had been sentenced for his terror act in Solo, "and he was also involved in Surabaya’s terror act last year," Dedi concluded.
