One Year After Earhquake, Lombok Tourism Yet to Return to Normal

TEMPO.CO, Mataram - Nearly one year has passed since a devastating earthquake hit the region of Lombok, in West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), but the tourism industry has yet restored to normal with a mere 32.63 percent hotel occupancy level in February 2019.
The region’s dropping hotel occupancy was revealed by Head of the NTB Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Head Suntono on Monday.
“NTB’s tourism has yet shown encouraging development this year,” he said.

BPS also noted that the average length of stay of guests in rated hotels in NTB on February 2019 was only 2.16 days, which is a 0.75 drop compared to the previous month that saw 3.16 average length of stay.
The number of guests at rated hotels on February 2019 was known to be 44,654 tourists, consists of 34,822 domestic tourists and 9,832 foreign tourists.
The number of foreign tourists that arrived via a direct flight to Lombok International Airport in February of 2019 amounted to 3,588 people that was dominated by Malaysian tourists with 1,517 people and followed by China with 670 people.
