Jokowi Responds to Politically Biased Police Claims

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Incumbent presidential candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo was not ardent on answering questions about the confession of a former Garut Police Sector Head claiming to have received orders to support Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin in the 2019 presidential election.
“Well, just ask who and report it to me,” said Jokowi in a casual meeting with The Indonesian Communion of Churches (PGI) at Hotel Sutan Raja, Manado, on Sunday.
Previously reported, former Head of Pasirwangi Police Sector, Adj. Comm. Sulman Aziz claims he received orders from his boss Garut Police Chief Adj. Grand Commissioner Budi Satria Wiguna to help support Jokowi – Ma’ruf Amin in the 2019 presidential election.

“We were ordered to rally support for the number 01 candidate,” said Sulman at the Lokataru Legal Office. Number 01 candidate refers to Jokowi`s number in the presidential election.
Responding to the allegations, Budi Satria Wiguna strongly denied that he ever ordered it. He said that Sulman’s confession of a forum that was formed by him as a routine meeting to plan police operations and conduct security simulations on the upcoming general elections (Pemilu).
“There was no order, at all, to support any individual,” said Budi Satria who disputed Sulman’s claims as a means to conduct public mapping in relations to police’s Pemilu security efforts.
