TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Fisheries and Maritime Affairs Minister Susi Pudjiastuti awarded Soekarno-Hatta International Airport's aviation security (Avsec) personnel for repeatedly foiling illegal activities, especially attempted smugglings relative to fisheries and maritime affairs.
“Among them is [an attempted smuggling of] lobsters," said Febri Toga Simatupang, Soekarno-Hatta Airport’s senior manager of Branch Communication and Legal, in a written statement on Friday.
The award ceremony was held at the Ministry of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries’ official residence at the Widya Chandra Complex in South Jakarta on Tuesday afternoon.

The latest case, said Febri, involved an attempted smuggling of lobster seeds placed into 35 plastic bags in four suitcases. Avsec personnel together with Soekarno-Hatta’s quarantine personnel said the lobster seeds were worth up to Rp1.4 billion.
“We seized four suitcases, this means that there are many state assets that we managed to save,” said Febri. However, authorities failed to lure in the suspects into picking up the suitcases.
