TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe survey conducted by Center Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) shows the presidential and vice presidential candidate number 01, Joko Widodo or Jokowi - Ma'ruf Amin bested the opponent Prabowo Subianto - Sandiaga Uno.

The survey reveals that the electability rate of the incumbent reached 51.4 percent, while the rival at 33.3 percent. The rest 15.3 percent of respondents refuse to answer or have yet decided.

“The figure is quite high. They perhaps have set an option, but refuse to openly state their political choice,” said CSIS researcher Arya Fernandez in Fairmont Hotel, Jakarta, on Thursday, March 28.

The multistage random sampling poll involved 1,960 respondents of eligible voters throughout 34 provinces on March 15-22, 2019. The survey’s margin of error is +/-2.21 percent with a 95 percent level of confidence.

Prabowo - Sandiaga pair prevails in Sumatra Island with 49.6 percent electability, while Jokowi - Ma'ruf's at 37.3 percent. According to Arya, areas that are more populated by Malay people mostly support Prabowo-Sandi.

Meanwhile, Jokowi - Ma'ruf Amin dominated voters in Java Island. The highest electability rate is in Central Java and Yogyakarta up to 70 percent, far bested the candidate number 02 at 13.9 percent.

However, the electability rate of both candidate pairs is almost equal in West Java and Banten, Jokowi - Ma'ruf has 47.4 percent, slightly beats Prabowo - Sandiaga with 42.2 percent.
