TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The head of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) Commission C overseeing financial affairs, Santoso, admitted that the council members have just understood the proposal set by the city administration on MRT Jakarta tariff scheme.
The same perception of the issue was reached after Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan explained to the legislators that the MRT tariff of Rp10,000 was not a flat rate as it was set based on the distance.

“So it’s not a fixed cost,” Santoso told Tempo in the DPRD building, Central Jakarta, on Tuesday, March 26. He admitted there was a misunderstanding over the tariff scheme proposed by the regional administration.
On Tuesday, Anies Baswedan visited Prasetio at his office to discuss the MRT tariff. Santoso and several heads of the council commission presented at the meeting.
Earlier on Monday, the Jakarta DPRD agreed to set the MRT tariff at Rp8,500 per 10 kilometers, while the LRT has a flat rate of Rp5,000.
The MRT Jakarta tariff will also be adjusted to the distance between each stop. The first station entry will cost Rp3,000, and the final tariff will depend on the destination.
