TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Low-cost carrier Citilink is set to take over Garuda Indonesia’s flight operations serving the Surabaya – Jember route starting from April 1, at the Notohadinegoro Airport in Jember District, East Java.
Citilink is the sister-company of state-owned Garuda Indonesia.
“Garuda’s Surabaya-Jember-Surabaya route will be taken over by Citilink since the route is still promising to air transportation industry,” said Ikhsan Rosan, Garuda Indonesia’s VP corporate secretary on Tuesday, March 26.
The takeover, said Ikhsan, was decided since the state-owned air carrier temporarily terminate Garuda Indonesia’s Surabaya – Jember flight route after the evaluation for the past several weeks.
Garuda rallied its sister-company to accommodate Garuda passengers that continue to fly the route. This means that Citilink’s flight uses the available Garuda Indonesia Explore slot time.
The decision is mentioned in an official letter by PT Citilink Indonesia issued on March 20, 2019, and has been informed to potential passengers at the Notohadinegoro Airport.
