President Jokowi to Inaugurate MRT Jakarta on March 24

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - MRT Jakarta head of secretary unit, Muhamad Kamaluddin, stated that President Joko Widodo or Jokowi would inaugurate the mass rapid transport (MRT) on Sunday, March 24. The president is scheduled to board on the Ratangga train from Istora Senayan Station to the location of the inauguration at Bundaran HI Station.
Kamaluddin said that Jokowi would be accompanied by Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan. "[They are] scheduled to board on the train together from Istora at around 7-8 a.m.," he said on Saturday, March 23.

The inauguration stage is set near the Getah Getih statue in Menteng, Central Jakarta. The event is open for public so they can directly witness the inauguration of the latest transportation mode in the capital.
PT MRT Jakarta has completed the 15.7 km underground construction. There is a total of 13 stations in Lebak Bulus - Bundaran route. The public trial has been running since March 12.
MRT Jakarta president director William Sabandar confirmed that MRT had been granted the permits to commercially operate the train. However, the tariff has yet to be announced, pending the discussion in the Jakarta council. Therefore, the public can ride on the train for free for a week after the inauguration.
