Prabowo Camp Rejects Metro TV as 4th Election Debate Organizer

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Prabowo - Sandiaga campaign team rejected a national television station Metro TV as one of the organizers of the upcoming election debate on March 30. The team had reported the issue to the General Election Commission (KPU).

“We have officially submitted a letter of objection if Metro TV becomes one of the debate organizers,” said the campaign team spokesman Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak when met in Central Jakarta, Thursday, March 21.

Metro TV, according to his team, did not provide fair reports based on previous warning letters issued by the Indonesian Broadcasting Commission (KPI) to the station.

“Based on KPI assessment, Metro TV does not display fair reports about [presidential candidate] number 01 and 02. It tends to cover [candidate] 01,” Dahnil added.

The fourth presidential election debate organized by the KPU will be held in Balai Sudirman building, South Jakarta. Only presidential candidates will take part in the session to talk about issues related to ideology, governance, defense, security, and international relations.

The KPU intentionally synergized with different TV stations for broadcasting each debate session. The upcoming debate will be aired by Metro TV, SCTV, and Indosiar.
