TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The lawyer of hate speech defendant Ahmad Dhani will appeal to the Supreme Court this week. The decision relates to the appeal decision of the Jakarta High Court.
"Maybe in one to two days, or by Monday at the latest, we will file for an appeal," Ahmad Dhani's lawyer Ali Lubis said via text message, Wednesday, March 20.
The Jakarta High Court had granted the appeal last week, reducing Ahmad Dhani's verdict from 18 months to 12 months.

Ali believes the Supreme Court will consider this case wisely. "We plan to file an appeal because we believe that Ahmad Dhani had not been proven guilty from the start," he said.
In addition, Ali said his team will submit a request for detention suspension to the Supreme Court after filing an appeal. Right now Ahmad Dhani is still being detained by the Jakarta High Court.
In the appeal verdict, the Jakarta High Court said Ahmad Dhani was found guilty of deliberately and without rights spreading and urging for the spreading of false information aimed at inciting hatred or hostility against certain groups of people, posting it to his Twitter account.
