TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) Deputy Chief Laode M. Syarif revealed that there had been many reports of PPP Chairman Romahurmuziy dealing positions within the religious affairs ministry structure.
KPK is currently studying how far Romahurmuziy, or Romy, is involved in the illegal activity.
“That is what the KPK are studying and there have been many reports actually. We did not just receive one report about his alleged dealing with positions, there were countless. Not just from the East Java region but also elsewhere,” said LAode at KPK headquarters in South Jakarta on Monday, March 18.
Despite Laode’s reluctance in revealing the details of the reports, he said that KPK is committed to solving the case.

Previously, the United Development Party (PPP) Chairman Romahurmuziy or Romy was arrested in a KPK sting operation (OTT) at the East Java Religious Affairs Ministry office. Head of the region’s office Haris Hasanudin and Head of Gresik Religious Affairs Ministry Muhammad Muafaq Wirahadi were also arrested by the KPK.
KPK suspects Romy of receiving Rp300 million from both Haris and Muafaq to assist in dealing with the ministry’s position selection process. Haris is known to have handed Rp250 million while Muafaq handed Rp50 million to Romy.
Not only that, KPK also searched the Religious Affairs Ministry headquarters and found large sums of cash at the office of the Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim.
