KPK Seizes Hundreds of Millions of Cash from Minister's Office

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized hundreds of millions of cash in rupiah and dollar during its search in the office of Religious Affairs Minister Lukman Hakim Saifuddin today, March 18.
“We are still counting the total money. We will update the information later,” said KPK spokesman Febri Diansyah today at his office, South Jakarta.
In addition to cash, investigators also found several documents concerning job selections and their procedures at the Ministry of Religious Affairs, “and files related to the disciplinary sanction for suspect Haris Hasanudin,” Febri added.

On the same day, the anti-graft body conducted a search at the office of the United Development Party (PPP) former head Romahurmuziy or Romy and the party treasurer’s and administration’s offices as well.
KPK confiscated documents about the role of Romy, who has been named as a suspect in the alleged bribery case at the Religious Affairs Ministry following his arrest during the KPK’s sting operation in Surabaya, East Java, Friday, March 15.
The KPK has named three suspects in the case; Romahurmuziy as the bribe recipient and the head of the Religious Affairs Ministry's East Java office, Haris Hasanudin, and the head of the Religious Affairs Ministry's Gresik office, Muhammad Muafaq Wirahadi, as the bribers.
