TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Four people who were digging for gold without license were found dead inside a hole in Banyuresmi Village in Bogor, Sunday, March 17. Authorities suspect they died from inhaling poisonous gas.
“The four men were digging for gold," Bogor Resort Police spokesman Adj. Comr. Ita Puspita said in a written statement, Monday.
Authorities are still investigating what killed Ata (27), Satri (25), Kosim (28) and Adam (27). However, early reports suggest they might have inhaled poisonous gas.

Ita said that, based on witnesses' accounts, the first miner who entered the whole, tried to climb back up after some 15 minutes. He was panting.
He couldn’t climb up because he was weak, and fell into the whole. His three friends jumped in to help them, but they also failed to get out, Ita added.
Authorities and locals evacuated their bodies at around 17:00.
