Romy Arrested at Religious Affairs Ministry's East Java Office

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The sting operation (OTT) by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) in which United Development Party (PPP) Romahurmuziy alias Romy was apprehended took place at the Religious Affairs Ministry's East Java office on Jl. Raya Juanda, Sidoarjo regency, at around 09:00 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2019.

Romy was then rushed to the East Java Police headquarters along with a number of officials of the office for further questioning.

East Java Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Frans Barung Mangera has confirmed the arrest but stopped short of revealing any identity.

“The OTT is an A1 info [confirmed], but please ask the KPK as to whom were arrested,” he said.

The KPK will announce Romy’s status tomorrow—pending completion of the investigation. The anti-graft body has 24 hours after the arrest to determine the status of those nabbed in the OTT.

Usually, the KPK will immediately detain those who are named suspects. “Wait for the press conference at the KPK [headquarters] tonight or tomorrow morning,” KPK czar Agus Rahardjo said.
