Kampung Flory; Alternative Tourist Destination in Yogyakarta

15 March 2019 09:40 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - Malioboro has still become the most prominent destination in Yogyakarta. While the area certainly must be visited, tourist can also visit an alternative tourist site in Sleman Regency, Kampung Flory.

The 3-hectare tourist village is located in Tlogoadi Tourist Village, Mlati, Sleman, Yogyakarta, precisely near Bedog River that is renowned for its clear water with panoramic paddy fields. The destination can be reached via Jalan Magelang-Yogya or 20 minutes from the northern road of Jalan Malioboro.

Officially opened in 2006, Kampung Flory is a friendly place for family trip or outbound as it provides facilities such as playgrounds, fish therapy pools, gazebos, coffee shops, bicycle tracks, culinary centers, and outbound facilities. Tourist can also enjoy playing water at the shallow river.

“Kampung Flory has two areas, Taruna Tani and Desa Wisata Flory (Flory tourist village),” said the head of Desa Wisata Flory, Mujiyono, when met on Wednesday, March 13.

The Taruna Tani Zone is an agricultural area and edu-tourism site, while Desa Wisata Flory provides homestay, outbound area, culinary center, and coffee shop.

Therefore, Kampung Flory which is opened every day at 08:00-21:00 local times not only offers typical rural destination and recreational attraction, but also education and knowledge on environment preservation.
