TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan is waiting for the decision of Jakarta Legislative Council (DPRD) regarding the ticket price for the first MRT Jakarta train in the capital city.
“We wait for a final decision from the council,” said Anies at Jakarta City Hall, Tuesday, March 12.
The city administration suggested the MRT fare set at Rp8,500. Earlier, the rate was said up to Rp10,000 per 10 kilometers.
The high fare stirred public complaints from Jakartans. A user of Transjakarta Bus, Maya Nuraini (27), said that the tariff offered was pricey if she must pay for other transportation to continue her trip.

“The ticket of public transportation should have not been set at a high price to attract passengers,” said the Depok citizen on Sunday, March 10 at Lebak Bulus Transjakarta Station that was under MRT Lebak Bulus Station.
A joint meeting of the DPRD commission C and B which was scheduled to be held Tuesday, March 12, to talk about the tariff of MRT Jakarta was canceled due to the unfinished discussion in each commission.
“A meeting in each commission is not finished yet,” said the DPRD Commission C secretary James Arifin Sianipar.
