TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) investigator Novel Baswedan said that light has yet shed on the terror attack he experienced even though it has been 700 days since he was first attacked with liquid acid.
“The perpetrators have yet been exposed and the government remains quiet, wither by letting the uncertainty go on or they plainly do not care,” said Novel on Tuesday, March 12. “This is similar to other cases experienced by many other anti-corruption activists or human rights activists.”

Furthermore, Novel Baswedan urged President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo to form a fact-finding team that is truly independent and free of any political agenda. He says that only by doing so can help solve his case.
He deemed that Police’s joint team specially formed to solve his case has shown no results since its inception in January 2019 under the direct orders of Police Chief General Tito Karnavian. He further voiced his doubt on the performance of the team in solving the attack that permanently injured his eye.
Novel Baswedan was attacked by two unknown assailants with liquid acid on the early morning of April 11, 2017, near his home.
