TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo welcomed 39 finalists of the 2019 Puteri Indonesia pageant at the Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, on March 11. This event was also attended by Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray.
Chairperson for the Puteri Indonesia foundation Putri Koes Wisnuwardhani said that the finalists were gathered to introduce and promote the country’s motto "Bhinneka Tunggal Ika" (unity in diversity).
“I hope that Pak Jokowi would be willing to provide guidance to Puteri Indonesia finalists before they return to their hometowns, and about what they need to promote back there,” said Putri Koes in her welcome speech.
The finalists will be equipped with a number of significant knowledge while undergoing quarantine such as anti-corruption and anti-drug materials. Frederica Alexis Cull is set to represent Indonesia at the Miss Universe 2019 pageant while Jolene Marie Cholock will represent the country at the Miss International 2019, and Jessica Fitriana Martasasri at the Miss Supranational 2019.
