TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A pollster named Saiful Mujani Research Center (SMRC) had just run the latest survey in light of the establishment of the 2019 Indonesian election, including the performance of the General Election Commission (KPU).
The study revealed that 13 percent of the respondents believed that KPU did not maintain neutrality, while 56 percent of them rest assured that the institution was professional and the rest did not answer.
“As many as 13 percents of the respondents assess that KPU was not neutral. That 13 percent of 190 million total eligible voters means some 25 voters. The figure is quite high that can beset KPU and the Election Supervisory Board (Bawaslu) should the institution is mobilized,” said SMRC director Deni Irvani Sunday in Menteng, Central Jakarta.

Additionally, the survey showed that most respondents or 61 percent of them did not believe on the hoax news about seven containers filled with cast ballots that previously stirred public uproar earlier this year. Meanwhile, 35 percent of the respondents refused to comment and only 4 percent of them believed on the false report.
“Almost all voters reacted negatively upon the issue on seven containers loading cast ballots, most of them did not believe it,” Deni added.
The survey was conducted on January 24-31, 2019, which involved 1,620 respondents. As many as 88 percents of the respondents were interviewed with the margin of error to be more or less 2.65 percent and the confidence rate at 95 percent.
