Police: Robertus Robet Not Detained

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Activist, and lecturer at Jakarta State University, Robertus Robet will not be detained.
"After the examination, [he] will be sent home. The person in charge will not be detained because the charge is only two-year imprisonment," said public relation chief of Police Brig. Gen. Dedi Prasetyo when contacted on Thursday, March 7.
The police are still investigating Robet as of publishing time.
Robet was arrested on Thursday, March 7, at dawn, over allegedly criticizing the Indonesian Military (TNI). Robertus Robet's attorney, Nurkholis Hidayat, said that his client was named a suspect for his oration, that is deemed of containing hate speech, at the Kamisan event on Thursday, last week, February 28.
The footage showing Robet during his oration at the Kamisan event last week sparked controversy and critics on social media. The oration allegedly has insulted TNI. The Kamisan act is a weekly demonstration done in front of the state palace, in calling for law enforcement and human rights.
Robet and his legal team arrived at the criminal unit of National Police HQ at around 01:20 on Thursday for examination.
Before the arrest, Robertus Robet told that two people, calling themselves military officers, came to his residence in Depok, West Java, on Wednesday, March 6. "My housemaid said that two people, calling themselves military officers, were looking for me at three in the afternoon," he said.
