TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Chain messages urging Whatsapp users to utilize the two-step verification feature recently made rounds after people questioned whether it was an official feature by Whatsapp.
Whatsapp introduced this multiple safety verification steps to protect personal Whatsapp contacts from being hacked.

Tempo reached Whatsapp on Tuesday and received an answer confirming that it is the text message service’s official feature.
The previous chain message questioning this feature urged its recipients to set up their phone with this two-step verification, which can be set up in the ‘setting’ feature with steps as follows; setting - account - two-step verification – enable (requires a PIN).
According to the Whatsapp representative Tempo reached out to, this safety feature is not new and had been around for a while.
