TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Newly-launched electronic money system LinkAja is ready to go all out and prepares promotions and strategies to vie with competitors OVO and Go-Pay, said state-owned lender PT Bank Mandiri Tbk.’s spokesperson Rohan Hafas.
The payment system was initiated by several state-owned enterprises (SOE), state lenders, and Telkomsel—a subsidiary of state telecommunications company PT Telkom Indonesia.
Promotions offered will vary and be decided by the SOEs. “We have set promotions, and each company will add more based on their products,” said Rohan on Monday, March 4, after the press conference of the anniversary of the SOE Ministry at the SOE Ministry building, Central Jakarta.

The soft launching of LinkAja took place a day prior, in conjunction with the Java Jazz festival. Following the launch, users can download the app via Play Store or App Store and enjoy its services.
Besides promoting services to customers, Rohan explained, LinkAja also relied on its previous users, especially clients of banks that were members of LinkAja.

He mentioned that banks with corporate clients and retail businesses would be invited to join the partnership to use LinkAja. In addition, LinkAja will offer package programs and promotional discounts for each merchant. “So that’s our strength,” said Rohan.
Rohan expressed his optimism that LinkAja would be the market leader in the platform of digital payment through application and QR codes. Currently, the market is still controlled by OVO and Go-Pay.
